Charlton Athletic are delighted to announce the signing of New Zealand international Tyler Bindon on a season-long loan from Premier League side Nottingham Forest.
The 21-year-old centre-back, who represented his country at this summer’s FIFA World Cup, becomes the Addicks’ ninth summer signing following the arrivals of Ivan Mesík, Billy Koumetio, Karlan Grant, Danny McNamara, Millenic Alli, Nathaniel Chalobah, Timothy Ouma and Arthur Okonkwo.
After completing his move to south-east London, Bindon said: "It’s a privilege to be here and I’m excited to get started. The way the gaffer talked aligned with what I want to do and I like the vision of the club. Hopefully I can be a part of that in a positive way."
Manager Nathan Jones commented: "We’re delighted to welcome Tyler. Obviously we had to be reactive with certain injuries that we had, but Tyler is a player that I’ve known for a long, long time and have tried to sign. I’m delighted to have been able to do it now.
"He’s a player that comes with real good pedigree. He had a fantastic time at Reading and then got the move to Nottingham Forest. He’s a player that will add to us and improve our squad, so we’re looking forward to working with him."

Born in Auckland, New Zealand, Bindon began his career in his homeland with East Coast Bays before moving to California aged 12.
After impressing at the LAFC Academy, the centre-back joined Reading in the summer of 2023 and quickly established himself as a key player for the Royals.
That form earned him a permanent move to Premier League side Nottingham Forest in February 2025, with Bindon returning to Berkshire for the remainder of the 2024/25 campaign.
He was subsequently named as Reading’s Player of the Season as the side narrowly missed out on a top-six finish and was nominated for the EFL League One Young Player of the Season award. Bindon was also crowned the Emerging Talent award winner at the prestigious Halberg Awards in New Zealand.
The 6ft 4in defender spent last season on loan at Sky Bet Championship side Sheffield United, where he featured 26 times across all competitions.
Bindon, who earned his international debut in a friendly against DR Congo in October 2023, has 28 caps for the All Whites to date.
