Charlton 3-1 Wolves
The Addicks rounded off their pre-season campaign with a 3-1 victory over Wolves at The Valley.
Charlton started brightly, taking early possession and looking to play out from the back. Both sides showed an ambition to keep the ball on the floor, with the opening stages proving competitive without either side creating many clear-cut opportunities.
Jodie Hutton registered Charlton's first shot on target inside the opening 10 minutes. Receiving the ball wide on the right, Hutton drove into the Wolves half before cutting inside onto her left foot and testing the visiting goalkeeper, who collected comfortably.
Hutton and Ash Neville began to build a promising understanding, with the pair seeing plenty of the ball as the Addicks looked to exploit the wide areas.
Charlton's pressure began to tell after 15 minutes when some smart build-up play across the pitch resulted in a corner.
The corner was played deep to Hutton, who returned the ball before a dinked delivery was sent towards the far post where Ash Neville rose from six yards to head home and give the Addicks the lead.
The goal gave Charlton confidence, and the hosts began to take control of the game, pinning Wolves back in their own half as the press intensified.
The visitors continued to battle and tried to play their way out from the back, but Charlton's wing-backs were causing persistent problems.
Wolves responded well to the pressure creating two good opportunities in quick succession, only to be thwarted by Sophie Whitehouse.
In the 29th minute, Whitehouse was first forced into action as she tipped an effort from Olivia Francis over the bar.
The resulting corner was only partially cleared, with Chloe Williams meeting the ball first time and firing towards the top corner. Whitehouse produced another excellent save, stretching out an arm to turn the effort around the post.
Then more good work down the flank saw Ellie Mason fire the ball across the box, where Neville had once again burst forward and arrived at the back post. The defender made no mistake, tidily finishing to double her tally and put the Addicks 2-0 ahead.
There were seven changes for Charlton at half-time as Karen Hills rotated her side.
The Addicks continued to press after the restart, with a misplaced pass intercepted before a cut-back found Carla Humphries who slotted home into an empty net.
The start of the second half lacked the clear-cut chances of the opening 45 minutes, with the numerous changes disrupting the flow of the game. Charlton nevertheless managed the contest well and limited Wolves' opportunities to build any sustained momentum.
Whitehouse was then called upon again to deny Amber Hughes as Wolves threatened on the break, while the Addicks continued to look dangerous on the front foot.
Wolves did eventually have a goal of their own to celebrate after Amy Sims poked home from two yards after initially seeing her flicked header cannon off the post.
The Addicks held on comfortably in the closing stages to secure a 3-1 victory and end their pre-season campaign with a positive result.
