Karlan Grant was pleased to have scored his first goal back at the club on Saturday afternoon, as the Addicks beat Preston North End 1-0 at The Valley.
"It is amazing man, it doesn’t get any better than that!" he said.
"The momentum we are on it is just incredible!"
"I was annoyed because I had a great opportunity with the free-kick! But as soon as I touched it and he gave me a bit of space I decided to just get my shot off and I am grateful it went in."
Fellow Charlton academy graduate Ezri Konsa was in SE7 on Saturday to support his former teammate. And Grant ran straight over towards his friend after netting the winner.
"It is amazing, he has got a great move to Arsenal and he has come in to watch me today and he said to me ‘you better get a goal’ and so I just looked over at him. I am glad I got a goal," he exclaimed.
The win sent Charlton to the top of the Sky Bet Championship table - the only side remaining in the EFL with maximum points.
"It is very early, we are just taking each game as it comes," Grant explained.
"You look at the squad and they have fighting determination. We have a laugh and a joke but when we have to work, we work, and everyone is running for each other. We have to keep going and keep believe that we can win games, because we are doing."
The forward returns to his old stomping ground next week, as the Addicks travel to the Hawthorns to face West Bromwich Albion in the Championship (7.45pm BST).
"Listen it will be nice to see some old faces but I will be going there to win the game and continue our run, that is what we will continue to do," he explained.
"They are amazing, there are times when they were probably frustrated, it was very stop start and fragile at times, but we got the goal that we deserved."
