MATCH PREVIEW | Charlton v Bolton Wanderers

'

The Addicks return to Sky Bet Championship action on Tuesday evening, hosting Bolton Wanderers at The Valley (7.45pm GMT).

Nathan Jones' men will be looking to get back to winning ways following a 3-0 defeat away at league leaders Middlesbrough at the weekend.

TEAM NEWS

There was a positive update for the Addicks squad on Saturday, as Nathaniel Chalobah returned to action following a spell on the sidelines. Matty Godden (hamstring) is also nearing a return to full fitness.

Rob Apter (knee) and Collins Sichenje (knee) both remain long-term absentees for Charlton.

As for visitors, Eoin Toal (hamstring), Ethan Erhahon (thigh), Jayden Nelson (groin), Ryan Hardie (hamstring) and John McAtee (knee) are all set to miss Tuesday's clash, while goalkeeper Gavin Bazunu is also a potential absentee having also missed Bolton's last fixture.

THE OPPOSTION

Bolton's most recent Sky Bet Championship outing was a 3-2 loss to Bristol City at the Toughsheet Community Stadium on Saturday.

Steven Schumacher’s side currently sit 19th in the league table on a tally of 14 points, which is level with the Addicks who sit one place below them in 20th due to goal difference.

HEAD-TO-HEAD

The two sides have gone head-to-head on 99 occasions, with Charlton winning on 31 occasions, Bolton winning 47 and the remaining 21 encounters ending in draws.

The last meeting between the two sides at The Valley came in August 2024, when the Addicks secured a 2-0 victory thanks to goals from Greg Docherty and Godden.

Charlton’s most recent victory over Bolton came later that same season in January 2025, as they completed the double over the Trotters on their way to securing promotion. Jones’ men ran out 2-1 winners at the Toughsheet Community Stadium, with Lloyd Jones and Karoy Anderson both getting on the scoresheet.

REF WATCH

Steve Martin will be the man in the middle on Tuesday evening. The referee has taken charge of four Championship games this season, dishing out 22 yellow cards and two red cards since the start of the campaign.

Martin will be assisted by Hugh Gilroy and Ross Murphy, while Gavin Ward has been appointed as the Fourth Official.
