MATCH PREVIEW | Charlton v Doncaster Rovers

Charlton return to The Valley this Saturday (3pm) to take on Doncaster Rovers as Caretaker Manager Johnnie Jackson looks to maintain his 100% record in charge.

Buoyed by last weekend’s triumph at Sunderland, Jackson’s Addicks will be seeking successive league victories for the first time this term when Richie Wellens’ side arrive in SE7.

TEAM NEWS

Long-term absentees Ryan Inniss (quad) and Jake Forster-Caskey (ACL) have been joined on the sidelines by Sam Lavelle, who recently underwent successful surgery on a groin injury sustained in the win at Sunderland.

Meanwhile, Jackson revealed in his Thursday press conference that he is hopeful of Harry Arter’s involvement in the matchday squad, as the Republic of Ireland international is now back training with the group after missing the trip to Wearside.

The visitors will check on the fitness of Tommy Rowe (back) ahead of their trip to the capital, though will be without Charlie Seaman (foot), Cameron John (back), Ben Close (hamstring), Dan Gardner (calf), Jon Taylor (ankle) and Fejiri Okenabirhie (Achilles).

THE OPPOSITION

Doncaster travel to SE7 on the back of a 1-1 draw against newly promoted Cambridge United in midweek, leaving them sat 23rd in League One.

With just three wins from their opening 13 league fixtures, the visitors will be looking to climb their way up the division under the stewardship of Wellens.

HEAD-TO-HEAD

Charlton and Doncaster have met on 17 previous occasions with the Addicks winning nine, Donny six and the remaining two encounters concluding in draws.

The Addicks’ last meeting with Doncaster proved fruitful as Ian Maatsen’s maiden senior goal after just 12 minutes earned Charlton maximum points at the Keepmoat Stadium on Good Friday.

Doncaster’s last visit to The Valley, meanwhile, saw the visitors prevail 3-1 in September 2020. Strikes from Madger Gomes and Tyreece John-Jules came either side of a Charlie Barker own goal, with Conor Washington bagging a consolation goal 23 minutes from time.

MATCH OFFICIALS

Robinson will be assisted by Ian Cooper and Philip Dermott, while Andrew Laver is the Fourth Official.
