MATCH PREVIEW | Burton Albion v Charlton

The Addicks face their second of three away games in a week on Tuesday evening as they head to the Pirelli Stadium to take on Burton Albion (7pm).

Unbeaten in their last eight league games, Lee Bowyer's men are the in-form side in the division, but will be looking to return to winning ways after their run of six straight victories was halted by Saturday's draw at Gillingham.

The Brewers, meanwhile, are in a torrid run of form with just one victory in their 19 games in all competitions this term, leaving them bottom of the League One table.

Alfie Doughty and Ryan Inniss remain sidelined for Charlton through injury, as does Akin Famewo, but there could be a place in the squad for Deji Oshilaja who is back fit.

Jake Forster-Caskey is likely to miss out again, but Jonny Williams has recovered from his slight groin complaint that was picked up on international duty.

For Burton, Kane Hemmings is out with injury. After a number of recent positive COVID results, the hosts were able to welcome back five players for Saturday's defeat against Northampton Town, but Colin Daniel and Kieran Wallace were still made to self-isolate.

Charlton Boss Lee Bowyer: “The schedule is crazy at the moment, so we have to patch them up and get them ready to go again on Tuesday. We want to try and win every game and we were disappointed not to get all three points [on Saturday], but we've still got this unbeaten run of form which gives us a lot of confidence."

Burton Boss Jake Buxton: “I’m a fighter, I’m never going to give in,” he said. “I’ll roll up my sleeves and go again. I feel like I’m having a good go at it but we are not winning enough games at this time. I think the players are trying. I think they understand the situation. I have tried to absorb the pressure as much as possible so that players feel the freedom to play the correct way. There should be no pressure on them.”

Tuesday's meeting will be only the fourth between the two sides, with the Addicks having won all three of their previous encounters with the Brewers, including a 7-0 FA Cup victory at The Valley in 1956.

Charlton's last visit to the Pirelli Stadium resulted in a 2-1 win for Lee Bowyer's men in November 2018. After falling behind to Lucas Atkins' penalty, Karlan Grant levelled in the first half, before Jason Pearce netted a dramatic 88th-minute winner.

Ollie Yates will be the man in charge of Tuesday evening's match. He has refereed 11 games, so far, this season, dishing out 39 yellow cards and no reds, as yet.

He last officiated the Addicks during their 1-0 Valley victory over Wigan Athletic in October.

Yates will be assisted by Christopher Ward and Abbas Khan, with Steve Rushton as the Fourth Official.

The match will be played behind closed doors and supporters are reminded to maintain social distancing guidelines and to stay away from the stadium when the match is taking place.

Supporters can follow all the build-up to the game on Charlton's official Instagram account, official Twitter account and Facebook page as usual.
