Albie Morgan is keen to keep impressing as he looks to keep his place in the Addicks’ starting XI.
The academy graduate has started in each of Charlton’s last four games in all competitions and his performances have gained praise from boss Lee Bowyer in recent weeks – something which the 20-year old says has really spurred him on.
“Seeing that has given me a lot of confidence to come onto the pitch and perform week in, week out and that’s what I want to do between now and the end of the season,” explained Morgan.
“I don’t want to keep coming in and out of the squad like I have done in previous seasons.By me doing what I’m doing, I can stamp my mark on the team and keep getting games.
“I’m feeling good and feeling confident. It’s another game and another start, I’ll just take each week as it comes and, hopefully, I can keep performing and doing what the manager wants from me. If I do that, I’ll keep gaining his trust and keep getting games which is what I want, so I’m feeling really good at the moment and so is the team.”
Speaking after Saturday’s 1-1 draw at Gillingham, the young midfielder saw the performance as a big positive, despite the disappointment of only walking away with a point.
“As a team, I think we can look at that as a positive in terms of performance,” he said.
“We played our best football for a long while, especially this season, so we can take a few positives about it.
“The draw wasn’t the best, but there is a lot to be happy about going into the game on Tuesday. Hopefully, we can keep this unbeaten run going.”
Meanwhile, Morgan has praised the impact his experienced teammates have had on his progressions on and off the pitch.
“Playing alongside players like Darren Pratley and Ben Watson who have played at the top level, have been a great help from me,” he said.
“I can watch them in training, during games and even around the building and take different bits from what they do and how they stay professional so it’s great to learn from people like that. I can just watch on and try to do things properly and as best as I can.”
