Charlton U21s 6 Stockport County U21s 2
Charlton’s U21s produced an excellent goal scoring display at Princes Park on Tuesday evening, as they beat Stockport County’s U21s 6-2 in the Premier League Cup.
Ellis McMillan was the star of the show for Chris Lock’s side, as he netted five of the young Addicks’ six goals, in a result that sees them sit comfortably at the top of Group I in the competition.
It only took seven minutes for Charlton to open the scoring, as McMillan netted his first of the game, drilling a low hard shot beyond Cian O’Shea in goal.
The home side doubled their advantage mid-way through the second half, with Ellis McMillan getting himself on the scoresheet again. Josh Hebert got the better of his man on the right-hand side and fizzed the ball into the box, and McMillan was there to tap it home.
The attacking midfielder had his third goal of the game, as he netted again on 38 minutes. The ball was won back brilliantly between Otto Tiitnen and Sam Washington-Amoah in midfield, before feeding through McMillan who charged at Richard Ilara and let fly, to round off a first half hat-trick.
Washington-Amoah completed a stellar first-half display for Charlton, as he joined McMillan on the scoresheet to make it 4-0 at half-time. The midfielder curled an excellent effort with the outside of his boot that nestled into the top corner.
Stockport got a goal back through Che Gardner at the start of the second half as they looked to get a foothold in the game. The away side were awarded a penalty on 46 minutes after a foul by Ayden St-Aimie, which Gardner converted beyond Lyndon Tas, sending the goalkeeper the wrong way.
McMillan’s ruthlessness in front of goal continued in the second half, as he netted a fourth goal on 52 minutes. Kai Kobashi Enslin threaded the ball through to McMillan who slotted home to restore Charlton’s four goal cushion.
The midfielder showed no signs of relenting as he produced a five-star goal scoring display. McMillan scored his fifth and Charlton’s sixth of the game on 73 minutes with an excellent turn and finish.
Stockport reduced the deficit in stoppage time through Alfie Jones to make it 6-2. A rampant display in front of goal from McMillan alongside a goal from Washington-Amoah sealed the deal for Chris Lock’s side who now sit comfortably at the top of Group I in the Premier League Cup.
