Charlton’s U18s fell to their first defeat of the 2026/27 season on Saturday, as they lost 2-1 to Hull City’s U18s in the Professional Development League.
The young Addicks went 1-0 down on 14 minutes, as George Akinniraye opening the scoring for the hosts.
Minutes later, Logan Williams produced an excellent save for Charlton as Hull charged forward looking to double their advantage.
Jason Pearce’s side had to sustain pressure from the home team and went into half time 1-0 down. Kayode Peterkin levelled the scoring six minutes into the second half. The ball was fizzed into the box and wasn’t dealt with by the Hull defence. It fell to Peterkin who hammered it home from close range.
The young Addicks had a dominant spell in the game after bringing themselves level but failed to capitalise on their possession. Chances came as Peterkin fired over the bar, and half-time substitute Mikhail Simons saw an effort saved by the Hull City goalkeeper.
The in-form Ekemini Umoren scored the winner for the Tigers, who have won three games on the spin at the start of their new campaign.
Charlton’s U18s are next in action on Saturday, September 12th as they host Peterborough United’s U18s at Sparrows Lane (12pm BST).
