Nathan Jones' side will conclude their pre-season preparations on Saturday afternoon, as they take on Sky Bet League One outift Reading behind closed doors at The Valley (2pm BST).

The fixture was originally set to take place at Reading's Select Car Leasing Stadium, but has been relocated following concerns regarding the Royals' playing surface.

Saturday's friendly is the Addicks' final pre-season fixture before their 2026/27 campaign begins with a trip to Cheltenham Town in the first round of the Carabao Cup next weekend.

THE OPPOSITION

Reading currently compete in Sky Bet League One, where they finished 12th last season. 

Leam Richardson's men ran out 4-0 winners over Newport County in their most recent pre-season outing.

Their other friendly encounters this summer have seen them claim victories over Farnborough Town and Woking, as well as a 1-0 defeat against Getafe.

HEAD-TO-HEAD

The two sides have met 48 times in all competitions, with the Addicks winning 16 times, the Royals winning 19 and the remaining 13 encounters ending in draws. 

The most recent meeting between the two teams was in January 2025, where the two sides shared a goalless draw at The Valley in Sky Bet League One.

Supporters who have purchased tickets for the friendly in advance will be refunded automatically within the next five working days.

The game will be streamed live on CharltonTV and YouTube free of charge, with live commentary from Greg Stubley and Steve Brown.
