Nathan Jones was delighted with his side's performance on Saturday afternoon, as the Addicks came from behind to claim all three points against Derby County.
Goals from Lloyd Jones and Tyreece Campbell helped the Addicks to a 2-1 victory, to get Charlton off the mark.
"I am really pleased, I thought we showed real bravery today, especially after going 1-0 down," the gaffer said.
"We played against a really good side who were near the play-offs last year. I am really delighted with the result."
"We played differently today; we set up differently with a lot of new players. I am sure I will look back and be really pleased with a lot of elements that we have worked on."
"There is obviously things to work on, we want to gain some more control over the game towards the end."
"They [Derby County] threw on five, six attackers late on and you have to defend your box well and overall we did that."
Lloyd Jones netted Charlton’s first goal to bring the Addicks level after Sammie Szmodics had opened the scoring for the Rams.
"Lloyd’s goal was second phase play. We have brought in some real quality. We have brought in Karlan Grant, we have brought Millenic [Alli] in, [Ivan] Mesík, [Nathaniel] Chalobah. We think we have brought in some real quality into the team and the squad and that showed today," he explained.
"We want to take on Championship teams, we know it is a monster of a league, but we feel we are considerably better equipped to do that now after the window."
Tyreece Campbell fired home the winner for the Addicks in front of the Covered End.
"Sometimes TC is a bit like the pantomime villain at times. He can acquired taste, but I know what I see every day. I see the work rate he puts in; he just needs guidance and help. In terms of his ability and what he can do, he is wonderful for this football club," Jones said.
"We were brave, Derby came in a back five and we normally match teams, but we want to change and evolve, We want to play a four, but we have a safety net if we want to as well."
"We were patient, we stuck to the task and our game plan, we scored two goals which is always good to do in the Championship."
"We know we lost to Reading in pre-season, which is slightly false, but those two games since we have scored three and two games, we have reacted really well."
"Tonight, I will be exhausted, I will need a bottle of red! But you get the energy from the crowd, the crowd were excellent today. It was a great atmosphere, The Valley was superb and I think – that is my club. And I really love that feeling."
