Ivan Mesík is looking forward to Saturday’s meeting with Norwich City at The Valley, where Charlton will be aiming to continue their good form at home and turn recent draws into three points.
The Addicks head into the game encouraged by their strong home form, and Mesík believes the support from the stands can make a difference.
“We know Norwich are a tough opponent,” he said.
“But we also know we’re in good form at The Valley, so we feel confident going into the game. We’ll do our best to win and hope that we can celebrate together with the fans afterwards,”
Charlton have drawn their last three matches in SE7 against Bristol City, Portsmouth and Queens Park Rangers, with narrow margins denying them more points. Mesík said the team must take the positives from those performances and focus on the chance to get back to winning ways.
“We may have missed a few details in those games, and there have been some unlucky moments,” explained the Slovakia international.
“In the last few minutes, we could have turned things around and won, but it didn’t happen. We have to take the positives from the last few games [at home] and try to get that win.”
The defender also highlighted the importance of the home crowd as the Addicks prepare to take on the Canaries, who themselves are looking to turn their form around after a run of six straight defeats.
“Our fans are very important to us, and we know how special the atmosphere at The Valley can be,” said Mesík.
“We have to stand together, and I hope we can get a good result and make everyone happy.”
Meanwhile, the 25-year old has made an impact in recent weeks, scoring after coming off the bench against Burnley, before starting against Watford. But despite his own personal achievements, he was quick to highlight the team’s collective effort.
“I’m really pleased with what I’ve done, but it’s not only about me,” he explained.
“It’s about the whole team. We’ve all tried to make an impact, including when coming off the bench. Whether you’re starting or coming on, it’s about helping the team.”
