TEAM NEWS
With the season just about to get started, several new signings could make their official debut for the Addicks on Sunday.
Ash Neville scored twice against Wolves in the last match of pre-season and is set to be a great addition to the squad. Emily van Egmond has BWSL experience and is ready to bring all her talents to the pitch.
Leah Davidson and Grace Johnston have both traded the Australian league for the BWSL and are ready to make their marks on the team.
Lorena Azzaro, Paula Partido and Linda Lif Boama provide new attacking depth to Karen Hills' side, with Anna Koivunen ready to compete with Sophie Whitehouse for that No.1 jersey.
After beating Wolves 3-1 - with Carla Humphrey scoring the third - Charlton are full of confidence as they welcome Liverpool to The Valley for the second time in 2026.
THE OPPOSITION
Liverpool finished the 2025/26 BWSL season in 11th, picking up 17 points overall. They made it to the semi-finals of the FA Cup, beating Charlton's 1-0 AET in the quarter-final.
In pre-season, Liverpool won four of their five games, most recently beating Durham 7-1 on August 30th and Manchester United 2-1 on August 23rd.
Liverpool have made six signings this season, with England international Khiara Keating signing from Manchester City and Japan international Mao Itamura signing from Feyenoord being two notable additions.
HEAD-TO-HEAD
This will be the first league meeting between Charlton Athletic and Liverpool since March 2022, when the two sides met twice in a week in the WSL2. Liverpool won 1-0 away before playing out a goalless draw at home.
Liverpool are unbeaten against Charlton in all competitions across the WSL era (W4, D2 since 2011), with the most recent match between the two being that 1-0 AET, at The Valley in last season’s FA Cup quarter-final.
MATCHDAY PROGRAMME
For the first match of the season, the matchday programme also contains the women's handbook with all the information about the squad for the season ahead.
The cover star of Sunday's Valley Review is Emily van Egmond, who discusses her move to Charlton, the WSL and her time playing around the world.
