Martin Honeywood appointed to Advisory Board

-

Charlton supporter Martin Honeywood has been appointed to the Charlton Stakeholder Advisory Board as hospitality representative.

Independent of the club, the Charlton Stakeholder Advisory Board exists to advise and counsel the club's Board, using current and historical contextual knowledge, critical thinking and analysis.

It has the key role of protecting the proud heritage of the football club, shaping its fan engagement and using its advanced community development strategy to widen and diversify the fanbase.

Honeywood joins seven other members of the board which includes Marilyn Toft and Callum Coker (Charlton Athletic Community Trust), Heather McKinlay and Sam White (Charlton Athletic Supporters’ Trust), Jon Whitfield and Lewis Catt (fan representatives) and Addicks legend Steve Brown (Ex-players’ Association).

Introducing himself to the Charlton Stakeholder Advisory Board, Honeywood said: “As a lifelong supporter, who has lived locally most of my life, my connection to the club runs deep - from childhood memories at the stadium (and of Keith Peacock being my Teviot Rangers U10’s coach!).

“I understand what the club means to its fans, local businesses and the wider community. Passions run deep and our heritage is important.

“I have stood on the terraces, sat in the stands, purchased multiple season tickets and in later life had the pleasure of experiencing hospitality, having a box for two seasons, sitting in the 1905 lounge and now in the Lennie Lawrence Suite.

“Professionally, I bring extensive experience as a transformation director, specialising in service improvement and organisational change often in the social housing sector.  I also serve as a non-executive trustee of a charity, where I contribute strategic insight and support, particularly with technology and communications.

“I am a strategic thinker, defining success measures, and making commercially-sound decisions while staying rooted in community values. I am passionate about taking forward the club’s ambitions with both a commercial head and a social heart.

“I am committed to listening to the voices of our stakeholders, ensuring they are heard and reflected in our long-term strategic plans.

“I am really looking forward to contributing to the club’s future as an advisory board member.”
