Charlton Athletic are delighted to announce that Lucy Fitzgerald has signed a contract extension with the club for the 2026/27 season.
Fitzgerald joined the club at the start of the 2025/26 season after leaving London City Lionesses. In her first season with Charlton, Lucy scored key goals for the club and was voted the PFA's WSL2 Player of the Month for February.
Fitzgerald's new contract sees her stay in SE7 for another year as the club enters the Barclays WSL for the first time.
Asked if it was an easy decision to sign, Fitzgerald said: "I think last season we had such a good season. I really enjoyed myself. I just loved the environment, I loved the team, I loved everyone I worked with, and it was quite a simple decision to stay. I loved it, so why not continue?"
The forward is looking forward to her second season with Charlton and her first in the WSL. When asked what excites her most about the upcoming season, Fitzgerald said: "I’ve never played WSL, and as a kid, that’s what you want to do growing up, so I think just playing every team, all the top players.
"There are so many good signings coming into the league, and when I was younger, I used to support Chelsea, so I think playing at Stamford Bridge will also be quite cool."
