Charlton Athletic are delighted to announce that Lucia Lobato has signed a new contract with the club, extending her stay for another year.
Lobato joined at the start of the 2025/26 season and was a key part of a Charlton defence that was the meanest in WSL2, conceding the fewest goals.
Lobato featured for the Addicks 22 times overall and will continue with the club for their maiden journey in the Barclays Women's Super League for the 2026/27 season.
After putting pen to paper on her new contract, Lobato said: "I’m very, very excited. I think this is what dreams are made of. When you’re young and thinking ‘how far will I go in football?’ and now playing, in my opinion, the best league in the world is amazing.
"It’s immensely validating that the club want to continue with me. It brings me a genuine sense of warmth, and I really appreciate that, and I’m grateful for the trust and the opportunity.
When asked what excites her the most about the upcoming season, Lobato said:
"I’m looking forward to playing against the best players in the world. To set yourself up against the best players, you see the standard, you see the difference; that’s how anyone gets better, playing against players that are better than you, learning from teammates, learning from opposition. Every day is going to be a new learning day, so I’m really excited for that."
