Karen Hills believes her side have learned plenty of lessons after defeat to table-toppers Chelsea at The Valley in the WSL this afternoon:
"You see how quickly they started, how they got into their rhythm, found their flow really, really well. And I think we struggled to deal with some individual players for their rotation, movement, quality, fair play to them.
"You would expect that Champions League team, WSL opposition, international players. We just feel a little bit disappointed that we've given them the goals so early on. And obviously, second half, I think they probably took their foot off the gas a little bit.
"We kept going. Listen, they're an absolutely quality outfit. And I've said to my players in there that, if anything, what have we learned from that? How can you, as an individual, learn from what you've seen? Because you've been playing up against some of the top players and you never threw the towel and you kept going.
"And that's all I can ask for. But if we've learned some really good lessons today, that's going to put us in good stead going forward.
"It could have been a very different game, right? If they'd have probably kept in the level that they were playing in that first 15 minutes and credit to them. But I thought we rode out some of those really uncomfortable moments. We knew it was going to suffer.
"But the message has always been all week, like, listen, we just reset and we try to keep going. And however difficult it is, how frustrating it is, we just keep sticking together. And again, they've done that for me today.
"So I'm really pleased. And obviously, yeah, 6-0 is not a flattering score. But what I would say is that we definitely learned a lot from that game.
"I said this before. A lot of these players are new. And I say every week, a lot of these players are new to this league and they're going to get they're going to have to try and get up to speed and it's going to take them time. But this league is unforgiving. It doesn't give you the time.
"And you're playing against world class international players week in, week out. So it's only going to make you better. And the challenge is that we've just got to stay with it, keep believing in ourselves and try and pick up some points around teams around us."
