Charlton Athletic are delighted to announce the appointment of Jamie Day as the academy's new Professional Development Phase Coach.
Day joins following Kevin James' departure and will work alongside U18s Lead Coach Jason Pearce.
He arrives at Sparrows Lane with a wealth of coaching experience across the English football pyramid and beyond.
Born in Blackfen, Day plied his trade as a midfielder, most notably playing for AFC Bournemouth and Welling United, before moving into coaching following his retirement.
He has since served as manager at Welling, Ebbsfleet United and Braintree Town, as well as the Bangladesh national team.
The 47-year-old most recently acted as Assistant Coach to Scott Lindsay at Crawley Town and Milton Keynes Dons.
Upon joining the club, Day said: "I worked here at Charlton 20 years ago in the academy, so it's nice to come back home. I know it's a good club and there are lots of good people here. It's a good move for me to get back to working in youth football.
"I enjoy working with Pearcey [Jason Pearce], he's a good lad and a good coach and Steve Avory is someone I've known a long time - he's like the godfather of Charlton! I'm looking forward to working with everyone."
U18s Lead Coach Jason Pearce added: "We are really pleased with the appointment of Jamie Day. He comes to the club with a vast amount of experience in the professional game as a coach and a manager and at international level as well. For me and the players it is fantastic to have someone with his level of experience come in."
