Charlton Athletic are delighted to announce the signing of defender Grace Johnston from A-League Women's side Perth Glory.
Johnston is Karen Hills' second signing of the summer window, as preparations begin for the Addicks' first ever Barclays Women's Super League campaign.
The 21-year-old arrives in SE7 on a two-year contract with the option of a further year. Johnston joins from Perth Glory, where she spent the majority of her career so far in the A-League Women.
The move is Johnston's first outside of her native Australia, as she looks to make her mark in England's top flight.
"I am excited to be here and excited to get started!" Johnston said.
"I am so excited, if you speak to anyone, it has been my dream to play in England. I am excited to play with and against the best players in the world."
"It has been a really good three years, I have been progressing each year which has been really good for my development, and it will be really good to play in some cold weather this time round!"
Comfortable in both defence and midfield, Johnston adds valuable versatility to Karen Hills' squad.
"I would describe my play as pretty fluid, I like to get up and down the line. I like to attack and I like to defend, so I am an all-rounder, a full-back I would say," she explained.
Johnston has also achieved significant success at international level, having represented Australia across different age groups. Most recently, she helped the U23s lift the 2025 ASEAN Championship.
"Those experiences have been great. Every time I go away on international, I take away something new and different from those experiences and they have been great for my development, and hopefully I can keep going with those. It is a dream to be here, and I am ready to crack on!"
