Charlton Athletic are delighted to announce that midfielder Carla Humphrey has signed a new one-year contract with the club.
Humphrey, who was named the Addicks' Women's Player of the Year for the 2023/24 season, spent much of the club's promotion-winning campaign on the sidelines after giving birth to her first child, Seb, in September 2025.
The midfielder made her long-awaited return to action in Charlton's play-off victory over Leicester City on the final day of the season, as the Addicks secured promotion to the Barclays Women's Super League.
"That day was so special, with my son being in the stands, and to do it with this team and for the club who have been so supportive to me throughout that journey," Humphrey explained. "I'm grateful that Karen put her trust in me for that 30 minutes or whatever it was, I wanted to make an impact and do the best I could for the team."
She has now penned a new contract, extending her stay with the club until 2027. Humphrey is eager to build on her return to action and help Charlton make their mark in the women’s top-flight.
"I'm really happy, I've absolutely loved my time here. I enjoyed how last season ended obviously with the play-off final. There was no question about where I wanted to be, so I'm absolutely delighted to extend my stay," Humphrey said.
"I'm so excited, I've played in the WSL for a lot of my career. I'm four appearances off 100 so I'm really hoping that I get to 100. It feels where the club should be right now, we deserve to be there."
