Lloyd Jones joined the Addicks in June 2023, putting pen-to-paper on a two-year contract with the club.

The centre-back began his youth career with hometown club Plymouth Argyle, before departing Devon for Liverpool in 2011.

He soon impressed for the Reds’ U21 side and was subsequently named in a Premier League squad for Liverpool’s trip to Fulham in May 2013.

During his five years on Merseyside, Jones built up valuable EFL experience during loan spells with Cheltenham Town, Accrington Stanley, Blackpool and Swindon Town.

He completed a permanent move to Luton Town in January 2018, before returning to Plymouth on loan a year later.

Jones then enjoyed an impactful loan stint with Northampton Town, which resulted in a permanent switch to Sixfields. He captained the Cobblers in the latter part of the 2020/21 campaign.

The defender arrived at Charlton on the back of a two-year spell with Cambridge United, where he won all four of the club's 2022/23 Player of the Season accolades.

The centre-back has become a firm fans' favourite amongst the Valley faithful, and has been a stand out in Nathan Jones' side.

Jones was deservedly named in the 2024/25 Sky Bet League One Team of the Season after starring in Charlton’s promotion campaign and he was instrumental again in 2025/26, playing all 46 Sky Bet Championship fixtures and making the most clearances (439) and winning more aerial duels (276) than any other player in the division.

He signed a new two-year deal with the club in August 2026, keeping him in SE7 until 2028.
