WOMEN'S REPORT | Charlton 2-1 Bristol City

A brace from Emma Follis ensured Charlton Women maintained their 100% home win record at The Oakwood in Crayford on Sunday afternoon.

Follis’ strikes in the eighth and 94th minute wrapped up three points in dramatic fashion for the Addicks.

Bristol City started the game on the front foot, however Follis capitalised on a poor back pass from Ffion Morgan and slotted the ball past Francesca Bentlyy to give the Addicks the lead.

Charlton pressured for a second, with Lois Roche and Elise Hughes coming close.

Hannah Godfrey made a superb block in the 22nd minute to keep the Addicks ahead, as Abigail Harrison struck a thunderous shot goalwards.

Charlton had a shout for a penalty in the 41st minute when Anna Filbey seemed to have been hacked down by Bentley, however the referee waved away the claims.

Bristol then equalised on the stroke of half-time with Harrison striking past Eartha Cumings into the top corner.

Cumings was brought straight back into action when the second half resumed, getting down well to save a Melissa Johnson effort.

Charlton had a goal disallowed as Kiera Skeels was deemed to have been offside, the midfielder curled the ball past Bentley but it was ruled out.

Sophie Quirk made an immediate impact shortly after being brought on for her debut, in the 70th minute her curling effort was tipped onto the post.

The Addicks had a brilliant chance to grab a winner in the 90th minute, the ball was cut back to Megan Wynne in the area but her effort was over the bar.

Charlton did wrap up the win in the 94th minute, as Wynne dinked a ball into the box, meeting Follis whose diving header breezed past Bentley to secure the win.

The Addicks face Tottenham Hotspur in the Continental Cup on Wednesday before returning back to league action next Sunday with a trip to Lewes.
