MATCH PREVIEW | Charlton v Bolton Wanderers

The Addicks will be looking to build on two games unbeaten when they welcome Bolton Wanderers to The Valley on Tuesday evening (7.45pm).

Last week's draw at Gillingham was followed up with another point against Portsmouth in SE7 on Saturday thanks to Josh Davison's late leveller and Nigel Adkins' men will be striving for those all-important three points as they look to finally start their ascent of the League One table.

TEAM NEWS

Ryan Inniss (thigh), Jake Forster-Caskey (ACL) and Ronnie Schwartz (calf) remain the only long-term absentees.

Adkins revealed at the weekend that he hoped to have Conor Washington (ankle) available for the clash against the Trotters, but his fitness will be assessed in the lead-up to the game.

For Bolton, Lloyd Isgrove will miss out after suffering a head injury at the weekend, while Elias Kachunga is expected to make his first start.

Andrew Tutte (hamstring) will be missing for a number of months, joining long-term absentees Liam Edwards (knee), Xavier Amaechi (foot) and Finlay Lockett (knee) on the treatment table.

Amadou Bakayoko is closing on a return from a calf injury, but isn't expected to feature for another fortnight.

THE OPPOSITION

Having bounced straight back to the third tier following relegation in 2020, Bolton thankfully find themselves on much steadier footing after being plagued by ownership issues for a number of years, pushing the club to the brink.

Their return to League One has been a largely positive one and they find themselves in ninth position with three wins, three draws and three defeats from their nine games, so far, although two of those defeats have come in their last two outings.

HEAD-TO-HEAD

Charlton and Bolton have met on 91 previous occasions with the Addicks winning 29, the Trotters winning 42 and the remaining 20 encounters ending in draws.

Tuesday's game will be the first time the clubs have met since the 2016/17 season which saw Charlton claim a 2-1 victory at the University of Bolton Stadium in January 2017, while Ademola Lookman's late strike secured a 1-1 draw from the last meeting at The Valley in August 2016.

MATCH OFFICIALS

Lee Swabey will take charge at The Valley on Tuesday evening. He has refereed four games this term, producing five yellow cards and is yet to reach for his red card.

His last two experience of refereeing the Addicks came in the EFL Trophy against Brighton &Hove Albion U21s last term and previously took charge of the 2-0 win at Gillingham in April 2019.

Swabey also refereed Charlton for the record 8-0 win at Stevenage in the EFL Trophy earlier that season.

He will be assisted by Stephen Brown and Declan O'Shea with Sam Allison as the Fourth Official.
