U18S REPORT | Charlton 3 Swansea City 0

Charlton’s U18s secured a fourth consecutive win in all competitions with a convincing 3-0 victory over Swanse City at Sparrows Lane on Saturday.

Daniel Kanu’s first-half strike set the young Addicks on their way before substitutes Jason Adigun and Henry Rylah added two more goals late on to put a seal on three deserved points in New Eltham.

Kanu’s opener came on 35 minutes thanks to some sloppy play at the back from the Swans. Pouncing on a mis-placed pass from a visiting centre-back 25 yards from goal, Kanu snatched the ball and raced to the edge of the box before dispatching an excellent low finish into the back of the net.

Charlton had a number of half-chances in both the first and second halves to double their lead, but had to wait until the 76th minute to put daylight between themselves and the opposition.

Kanu was involved again, latching on to Toby Bower’s ball forward, wrestling possession off of a defender in the box and laying off Ryan Huke whose initial shot was blocked, but fell nicely for Adigun on the edge of the box. The forward adjusted brilliantly and showed great technique to send an unstoppable first-time volley flying past the goalkeeper and give his side a commanding lead.

Rylah added the cherry on top of the victory with four minutes remaining, swiping home from six yards after the keeper kept out a shot from a short corner routine.

Hamza Serrar’s side return to action on Saturday afternoon when they head to Cardiff City in search of a fifth win on the spin.
