Charlton will be hoping to build on an impressive second-half showing on Tuesday evening as they head to the Memorial Stadium on Saturday (3pm).
The Addicks came back from 4-2 down at the break against Rochdale to claim a point from a 4-4 draw at The Valley and there were plenty of promising signs in that second period as Ronnie Schwartz got off the mark with his first goal for the club.
Now without a win in five, Lee Bowyer will be hoping for a change of fortune to ensure his side keep up with the promotion-chasing pack at the top end of the League One table.
The opposition occupy 18th position with six wins, four draws and eight defeats from their 18 games, so far, and come into the game off the back of a pair of cup defeats having only played two league games since December 12th.
Darren Pratley will serve the final match of his three-game suspension on Saturday. Jason Pearce will also miss out as he serves his one-game suspension following his red card on Tuesday.
They will be joined on the sidelines by the injured Alfie Doughty, Ryan Inniss, Akin Famewo and Ben Watson.
Marcus Maddison will also miss out, but is expected to return to training next week, while Andrew Shinnie could make his return to the squad against Peterborough United on Tuesday.
Bowyer confirmed in his pre-match press conference that youngsters Charlie Barker and Aaron Henry will make the journey west to supplement the squad.
Bristol Rovers will be without Charlton loanee Erhun Oztumer, who is ineligible against his parent club. Tom Davies remains sidelined through injury, as does goalkeeper Anssi Jaakkola and forward James Daly.
Charlton Boss Lee Bowyer: “The team picks itself. We’re limited with the players we have got at the moment, through suspension, through injuries. This month is going to be tough, we’ve got a lot of games this month, so the sooner we get people back the better.
"Saturday is going to be a tough game, they’ve had some good results this season and we’re going to have to match them physically.”
Bristol Rovers boss Paul Tisdale: "It could be an open and exciting game. Hopefully we can control our part in it. They're missing Jason Pearce, but they'll have another player coming in and we have to concentrate on ourselves and make sure we do the right things."
Charlton have met Bristol Rovers on 64 previous occasions, with the Addicks winning 23, the Pirates 22 and the remaining 19 games ending in draws.
The last meeting at the Memorial Stadium ended in a goalless draw back in March 2019. Charlton's last victory in this away fixture came in November 2016 in the form of a 5-1 victory with Ademola Lookman, Josh Magennis, Patrick Bauer, Adam Chicksen and Nicky Ajose finding the net.
Peter Wright will be the man in the middle on Saturday afternoon. He has taken charge of 17 games, so far, this season, producing 55 yellow cards and one red.
It will be the first time he has officiated a Charlton game.
The match will be played behind closed doors and Charlton supporters are reminded to maintain social distancing guidelines and to stay away from the stadium when the match is taking place.
Charlton’s live matchday streaming service has received a major overhaul with the introduction of Valley Pass Live, hosted by Scott Minto. He will be joined by guest pundit Steve Brown in the studio at The Valley for the broadcast which begins at 2.25pm. Supporters will be able to watch Charlton league games this season on Valley Pass Live. All league games, except those selected for UK or international broadcast, will be available to purchase with a match pass which costs £10 in the UK and Ireland and internationally.
Supporters living abroad can purchase a season live video pass for £195, which will give them access to every game the club is allowed to stream internationally during the 2020/21 season.
