INTERNATIONAL WATCH | Wales trio prepare for England

Charlton will be represented well at Wembley on Thursday evening with Jonny Williams, Dylan Levitt and new signing Chris Gunter all hoping to add to their caps against England.

The Addicks trio are all in Ryan Giggs’ squad for their country’s friendly clash against Gareth Southgate’s side which, of course, includes Charlton academy graduates Nick Pope and Joe Gomez.

Williams has 23 caps to his name, so far, while Dylan Levitt will be looking to add his second cap having made his international debut against Finland in September.

Gunter, meanwhile, is Wales’ all-time record appearance-maker with 96 caps to his name and he will be hoping for a run-out at Wembley as he closes in on a century of appearances.

Should Williams, Levitt and Gunter all play, it will be the first time Charlton have had three representatives playing for their country in an individual international fixture.

If Levitt and Gunter appear, they would become the 15th and 16th Addicks to play for Wales, following in the footsteps of Jack Pugsley, Dai Astley, George Green, Bert Turner, Trevor Edwards, Graham Moore, Leighton Phillips, Cyril Davies, Andy Jones, Mark Aizlewood, John Robinson, Simon Church, Tom Lockyer and, of course, current Addick Williams.

Wales remains the most represented country in terms of Charlton internationals, with 12 Addicks representing England as the next highest, followed by Republic of Ireland with six and Northern Ireland with five.

Speaking of Northern Ireland, Conor Washington is Charlton’s fourth player away on international duty and he will be hoping to add to his 23 caps when they head to Bosnia and Herzegovina in an UEFA Euro qualifier on Thursday evening.

They will then host Austria on Sunday in the Nations League before facing an away trip to Norway on Wednesday evening.

Wales, meanwhile, also have three fixtures over the next six days, taking on Republic of Ireland in Dublin on Sunday and Bulgaria in Sofia on Wednesday, both in the Nations League.
