Saturday’s opponents Queens Park Rangers are asking their supporters to donate non-perishable foods to Hammersmith & Fulham Foodbank at the weekend and they have extended the invitation to Charlton fans.
H&F Foodbank is just five miles from Rangers’ Kiyan Prince Foundation Stadium and, with Saturday being both clubs’ final match before Christmas, the west Londoners are hoping to raise as much stock as possible for their local centre.
Generous Charlton supporters have donated enough food for 1,000 meals from the two home games before Christmas in each of the last two years and almost 3,000 Addicks are set to make the trip to W12 at the weekend.
Andy Evans, CEO at QPR in the Community Trust, hopes that, with the help of the Addicks, a significant amount of food can be donated to a good cause in west London.
Evans said: “Just like ourselves here at QPR, our friends at Charlton have a fantastic reputation for supporting their local community. Jason Morgan and his staff at Charlton Athletic Community Trust run a fantastic community scheme and I know, like QPR fans, their supporters always get behind their programmes.
“Saturday is a great opportunity for two sets of supporters to come together for the greater good. Hammersmith & Fulham Foodbank have fed over 1,000 more people in 2019 than they did last year so the need for donations is very important. I hope everyone coming to the match can show their support.”

“The strain on foodbanks all over the country increases quite dramatically at this time of year – with lots of families being in need of support – so we hope that QPR and Charlton fans can help us in making sure that we have enough food to feed everyone that needs it.”
