MATCH PREVIEW | Charlton v Hull City

Charlton take on their second game under the lights at The Valley this week when they face Hull City on Friday night (7.45pm).

Having been beaten cruelly by an injury-time goal against Huddersfield Town on Tuesday night, the Addicks will be eager to finally record a win at the 10th time of asking in what is the last game in SE7 before Christmas.

Six points is what separates Charlton from Friday night's opponents, with the Tigers currently sat in 14th place. They themselves will want to bounce back after their 2-0 defeat by Leeds United on Tuesday.

Lee Bowyer is keen to once again feature Lyle Taylor "sensibly", with the striker making his return from injury. But the Addicks will still be without a chunk of their squad, with Tomer Hemed, Chuks Aneke, Jonny Williams, Josh Cullen, Jake Forster-Caskey, Sam Field, Beram Kayal, George Lapslie, Lewis Page and Ben Amos unavailable.

For Hull City, Former Addicks forward Josh Magennis could be in contention after his injury was not as bad as initially expected.

Elsewhere in their forward department, however, Norbert Balogh is still expected to miss out having had a setback in his return to fitness.

Kevin Stewart and Jon Toral are also expected to miss out for Hull through injury and recovery from surgery respectively.

Charlton boss Lee Bowyer: "The most important thing is to try and pick the lads up because they’re at rock bottom. They’re hurting. They don’t like losing games and they’re not used to losing games. Neither am I. The most important thing is we keep battling and hopefully something will go our way."

Hull City boss Grant McCann: “We’ve got another hurdle to pass. We’ve disappointed ourselves live on Sky Sports this season so we’ve got a point to prove and show what we’re about tomorrow.”

Charlton have met Hull on 39 occasions with the Addicks winning 18 times, drawing 10 and losing 11.

The last time the Addicks beat Hull City was back in August 2015 when Simon Makienok's goal was ruled out by Abel Hernandez' last-gasp effort before Johann Berg Gudmunsson sent the Covered End barmy with a 98th-minute winner at The Valley.

Andy Davies will be the man with the whistle on Friday night. Davies has overseen 12 Championship games this season, handing out 36 yellow cards and two reds while also awarding six penalties. The last time he was in charge of a Charlton game was back in April 2018 when the Addicks drew 1-1 with Bristol Rovers.

Timothy Wood and Mark Pottage will be the assistants on the night while the Fourth Official will be Andy Woolmer.

Supporters purchasing concession tickets should be aware that ID checks will be in place for those who may appear close to, or outside, the relevant age groups. Appropriate identification includes a driving license, passport or any other photographic ID that shows date of birth. The club will also accept a copy/photograph of these documents provided the date of birth is clearly legible.

Supporters are advised to get to the ground early to avoid queuing to get into the ground. Supporters are also asked to not bring bags, if possible, to help speed up the bag search process.

A 'print at home' option is available, or tickets can be scanned from mobile devices. Tickets are available from the stadium on the day, but supporters should note that a £3 increase on adult, over 65s and U21 tickets kick in 2 hours before kick off.

Supporters can follow all the build-up to the game on Charlton's official Instagram account, official Twitter account and Facebook page.
