Lee Bowyer on Boro defeat, Lyle Taylor's return and bouncing back

Speaking after the Addicks 1-0 loss to Middlesbrough on Saturday, Lee Bowyer was critical of his sides performance but spoke on the positive of having Lyle Taylor back and looked ahead to Tuesday's game against Huddersfield Town.

On the performance...

"It wasn't good enough. From start to finish they were better than us. Defensively I thought we weren't physical enough. I thought their two strikers run us ragged at times. Too many crosses came into the box and we just didn't have that fight. It wasn't just one or two [of the players] it was the whole lot.

"I think you just have to just try and move on quickly. If there's one thing I've been able to say after every game is that we competed and we fought and we gave everything, but today we fell short there. we fell short on the physical side of the game and normally that is a good plus for us.

"We'll be in tomorrow and we'll go through things and get it right for Tuesday. The only the positive from today is that Lyle [Taylor] came on and played 45 minutes. that's the only positive for me, apart from that it was a bad day."

On Lyle Taylor returning to fitness...

"We just need some of them bodies to come back and today Lyle came back - okay, he was a little bit off it but you can see what we missed!

"He fights and competes for every ball and puts dangerous balls in the box. To be fair the ball that he hit got a good block from the defender otherwise that would have ended up in the back of the net. but the most important thing is that he's back and has got 45 minutes in him and we'll try and do the same on Tuesday."

On injuries...

"Erhun Oztumer is injured. He's done some ligaments in his ankle so he's in a boot at the moment from the challenge he took last week. so he's struggling at the moment. So he'll be out for at least a couple of weeks I'd say.

"Chuks Aneke broke down on Thursday. The first day that he trained with us, he was outside for a week working on his fitness. He passed all the tests there and then his first day training with us, which wasn't even a physical day, he ended up pulling a different muscle.

"So Chuks has now had five different muscle injuries since the summer. not the same muscle, different muscles. It's not good. We were hoping that he was going to be coming off the bench."

On Huddersfield Town on Tuesday...

"We'll regroup and dust ourselves down and we go again Tuesday and we'll be better Tuesday. The lads will be fiery and up for it.

"To be fair that's the first time I've not been happy with their work-rate, so that's not bad going after 18 months! It's just disappointing because i felt this was a place we could come and take the three points."
