Make a child's Christmas by donating a gift with the Charlton Giving Tree

Over the last few years generous Charlton fans donated more than 150 gifts to those less fortunate at Christmas as part of the club's annual Christmas Giving Tree campaign.

The Christmas Giving Tree is back this year and fans are now able to collect a tag from the tree, which is located in the main reception in the West Stand at The Valley.

Each tag has the name and gender of a child or young person you can buy a gift for to help make Christmas more special for them.

This year the club are working with Charlton Athletic Community Trust [CACT] to give the gifts out to the children and young people who take part in their mentoring programmes in Greenwich, Bexley and Thanet. Many of these young people come from disadvantaged backgrounds or are looked-after children, and may not get any gifts this Christmas.

CACT’s Mentoring and Crime Reduction Manager, Paul Robinson, said: “Christmas can be a difficult time for some of the children and young people we support through our mentoring programme. Receiving a gift and knowing someone is thinking of them will make all the difference to them.”

Charlton Athletic Club Secretary, Chris Parkes, said: “It is always important to us to support our local community, but Christmas is a particularly difficult time of year. We’re delighted to be joining up with CACT for the Giving Tree this year, supporting young people in disadvantaged circumstances.”

Please return your unwrapped gifts with the Giving Tree tag to reception by Monday 16th December so we can distribute them in time for Christmas.

Fans unable to get to The Valley to pick up a tag, can bring along a suitable present for a young person and the Trust will make sure it is distributed accordingly.
