Saturday's matchday dedicated to front of shirt charity Children with Cancer UK

Charlton’s matchday against Leeds United this weekend is dedicated to front of shirt charity Children with Cancer UK.

Children with Cancer UK is the leading national children’s cancer charity dedicated to research into the causes, prevention and treatment of cancer in children and young people – helping to improve the lives of young patients both today and for future generations.

The charity’s logo is on the front of the Addicks home, away and third shirt for the 2019/20 season.

As part of Saturday’s matchday, children affected by cancer will form a guard of honour for the teams as they walk out onto the pitch with a giant gold ribbon ahead of kick-off to mark Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. The children will also participate in the half time penalty shoot-out.

Inside the stadium, pre-game the charity will have volunteers selling gold ribbons for Childhood Cancer Awareness Month in the club’s hospitality lounges as well as collecting donations through a bucket collection.

Children with Cancer UK’s Acting CEO Mark Brider said: “We’re thrilled to have such a large presence at Charlton’s matchday this weekend to coincide with this year’s Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. Front of shirt sponsorship, kindly gifted to the charity by GVC, is incredible exposure for Children with Cancer UK and will enable us to continue to raise awareness and funds for lifesaving research to help fight the injustice of childhood cancer. It’s also great to see some of the children our charity has supported getting involved in matchday activities and creating happy memories with their families.”

Charlton Athletic’s Commercial Manager Ravi Patel said: “Saturday’s game at The Valley will have our largest crowd so far this season and we’re pleased that we’re able to dedicate the matchday to our front of shirt charity Children with Cancer UK who do so much important work.”
