Bowyer: "We’ve all come together and now we’re getting rewarded.”

Addicks boss Lee Bowyer insists that, despite him taking home the Sky Bet League One Manager of the Month accolade, everyone plays a part in the award.

April has seen Bowyer guide Charlton to a strong finish to the season, winning five out of the six games in the month and it is the second time he has won the award this season after snapping up the title back in November.

He said: “Obviously we’ve had a lot of games and a lot of travelling but it’s been good. We’ve got a lot of points on the table and we’ve moved in the right direction, so it’s been a good month.

"From start to finish, from both the staff and the players and the fans, we’ve all come together and we’ve worked hard and now we’re getting rewarded. I’ve received this reward, but everyone plays a part in these rewards.

"I’m grateful for this for a personal achievement, but there’s only one reward I want and that’s promotion. We’ve been on a good run to get us where we are and now we just need to keep that going and finish the season strongly.”

Bowyer reiterated his point that the fans have played a big role in getting The Addicks to where they are.

“I say to the players; you’ve got to be at it all the time and the fans have been the same," he continued.

"Some of the atmospheres that we’ve witnessed... I think I’ve said it on a couple of occasions, at Plymouth or at Wycombe and even people from other football clubs have said that we should be proud of our fans, they’re a credit to us and they can see how the players react towards the fans.

"I wasn't joking when I said at the start of the season that they were going to play a massive part in this journey that we’re on and they are. So again, I want to thank them, the players and all my staff that are around me. It’s a collective thing, okay I’m the one that takes home the trophy but it’s a collective thing, everyone’s a part of it.”

With two wins and five nominations for the award, it's been a great first full season for Bowyer.

“It’s been a good season, but it’s not finished yet, we still haven’t been achieved the most important thing that we set out to do at the start of the season, but we’re close. Hopefully we’ll have four games to go and if we win all four then we’ll get promotion. We’ve just won six games out of eight I think so if we can just win four on the spin, which we’re definitely capable of doing, then we’re up.”

And finally Bowyer stated that he’ll leave the decision of where the award goes down to others…

“I’ll let my kids decide, they’re good at organising where they put things!”
