Local primary school pupils treated to training ground visit

Pupils from James Wolfe Primary School in Greenwich were treated to a look around the club’s training ground last week, as they collected their free Hummel football kits.

James Wolfe are part of Charlton’s Schools Partnership, a scheme that was launched in 2016/17 and offers local schools a number of benefits and the chance to get closer to the club.

Pupils from years four, five and six were invited to come down to Sparrows Lane and collect their new kits.

Charlton fan and teacher at the school Joseph Armson said: “Charlton have been really supportive in providing the free kit, so everyone not only has a chance to play but also represent the school in a way that links with the Charlton partnership as well.”

Whilst they were in New Eltham, the kids from James Wolfe were given an extensive tour of the club’s training facilities and also got the opportunity to fire questions at Manager Lee Bowyer, top-scorer Lyle Taylor and other members of staff.

Armson continued: “It's been a lovely opportunity for the children to come down to the training ground, pick up the kit, meet Lee Bowyer and Lyle Taylor - which they loved - and have a look at how the professional team play as well, which we can take back to school to make sure we're winning our games!

“Lots of the children that we've brought down go to The Valley often and see Lee on the touchline - so it's been nice for them to get an opportunity to meet the man that's in charge and to ask him any questions that they had. They loved that opportunity.”

Tickets for Charlton's next home game - against league leaders Luton Town on Saturday, April 13th - are on sale and can be purchased online by clicking here.
