Bowyer on Bradford win, chasing the top two and Igor Vetokele

Lee Bowyer has not completely ruled out a top two spot as the Addicks extended their unbeaten run at home to 14 games with a 1-0 win over Bradford City at The Valley today.

Bowyer’s full press conference will be available on Valley Pass later this evening below are some of the key points.

On the win…

“At this stage of the season it doesn’t matter how you win, what the score is, you tick it off, you get the three points and move on.

“I thought we dominated the game really and they kept trying to hit us on the break. It wasn’t good for us, we were sloppy at times in possession and invited them to hit us on the break which I thought was stupid but apart from that our attitude was spot on. We could have had five or six ourselves.”

On Joe Aribo and Lyle Taylor combining for the goal…

“The two of them combined well. Lyle had another chance just after his goal, Joe put it through to Jonny (Williams), Jonny cut it back to Lyle. It wasn’t much different really but he hit it over. I thought in the final third we weren’t too bad and our play to get there was decent. We had to be patient because of the way they set up. Lyle’s got another goal and the most important thing is the three points. We got a clean sheet which is good, so it’s two clean sheets on the spin.”

On the chance of a top two spot…

“The likelihood of the pair (Barnsley and Sunderland) of them messing up is slim but if Barnsley keep dropping the odd point here and there and Sunderland have got to play a lot of games and they’ve got to win them all, then you never know. We’ve got to be there just in case it happens but we concentrate now on Plymouth (next Saturday).”

On Igor Vetokele…

“That’s the best Igor has played since I’ve been in charge. He looked sharper, he looked fitter. It didn’t quite fall for him today but he looked very good today.”
