Charlton midfielder Josh Cullen has earned his first call-up to the senior Republic of Ireland squad.

Cullen’s inclusion for Ireland’s matches against Gibraltar and Georgia comes after his Man of the Match performance against Burton Albion on Tuesday night

Ireland boss Mick McCarthy was in attendance in SE7 in midweek to watch Cullen and he has subsequently added him to his squad for their upcoming Euro 2020 qualifiers.

The 22-year-old has played 20 games for the Addicks since joining on loan from West Ham United in the summer. Cullen has had a fantastic season so far, commanding games from the middle of the park.

He has already shone on the international stage for Ireland, scoring on his debut for the U21s in a 2-0 win over Andorra back in 2015.

The Republic of Ireland take on Gibraltar at Victoria Stadium on March 23rd before playing Georgia at Aviva Stadium in Dublin three days later.

Cullen becomes the fifth Addick to be called up for March’s international matches, joining Lyle Taylor, Chris Maxwell, Igor Vetokele and Krystian Bielik

Tickets for Charlton’s next home game – against Bradford City on Saturday, March 30th – are on sale and can be purchased online by clicking here.
