Five Charlton clashes against Tuesday's opponents Oxford United

Ahead of Tuesday’s Sky Bet League One clash against Oxford United, we have plucked five games from the Valley Pass archive to get supporters in the mood for the game…

Charlton 3 Oxford United 2 (August 1997)

A memorable victory over the U’s saw Charlton legend Clive Mendonca score his first goal for the club, whilst academy graduate Paul Konchesky became the youngest player to represent the Addicks.

Steve Jones opened the scoring with a right footed finish from inside the box before Mendonca found the back of the net. A neat bit of skill helped the striker beat his defender before slotting the ball into the bottom left hand corner. Mendonca’s goal was the first of 28 that he’d go on to score that season.

Oxford scored a goal in the second half but any hope of a comeback were short lived as Charlton academy graduate Kevin Lisbie fired in a third. Oxford scored another late goal but the Addicks held on to get their first win of a historic season for the football club.

A huge victory for Charlton in the 1993/94 season saw the Addicks thrash Oxford on their own patch.

Carl Leaburn opened the scoring, beating his marker for pace before poking the ball past the goalkeeper. Leaburn added his second of the game in the second half, flicking in at the near post ,after some great work from Garry Nelson.

Alan Pardew converted a penalty late on to make it three. Nelson added the fourth of the game after some impressive play from the Addicks, taking a touch past the goalkeeper before finishing via a deflection.

Simon Church scored twice on his home debut as the Addicks eased past Oxford to progress to the Capital One Cup second round in 2013.

Church converted instinctively after receiving a deflected pass from Joe Pigott. Danny Green doubled the lead, his free-kick deflecting past the U’s goalkeeper.

Church added his second after receiving the ball from Cedric Evina, before unleashing a shot into the bottom right corner. Pigott converted a late penalty to complete the 4-0 victory.

Charlton striker Yann Kermorgant scored his last goals for the Addicks in a 3-0 away victory against Oxford United in 2014.

The Frenchman opened the scoring with a powerful left footed shot in the first half. Charlton doubled their lead three minutes later when Simon Church squared to Danny Green to slot into an open net from three yards.

Kermorgant’s final goal for the Addicks was a fine free-kick from 25 yards that found the top corner.
