Nottingham Forest loanee Jamie Ward on his Charlton future

Nottingham Forest loanee Jamie Ward was asked about his Charlton future after claiming a superb assist in Saturday’s 2-0 victory over Barnsley at The Valley.

With just eight minutes on the clock, the 32-year-old sprayed possession out to Karlan Grant, who beat his man on the left of the box before finding the bottom corner of the net with a low shot.

Grant would add a second after a break as the Addicks return to winning ways and afterwards Ward, who is set to remain in south-east London until January, spoke about what the future held for him.

“It’s nice to feel wanted and have a manager who has a bit of faith in me and is willing to play me,” the Northern Irishman said. “Long may that continue.

“I’m happy, I’ve settled in really well and the only thing is I’ve not got my family with me. All I can do is focus on trying to do well until January. Whatever happens after then is totally down to the clubs.

“I’d enjoy staying until the end of the season and hopefully longer, as long as everything is right for everyone, but the most important thing is trying to get this club promoted and helping them in the next few months.”
