Jake Forster-Caskey on Charlton working hard in Portugal

Jake Forster-Caskey says Charlton are putting in the hard graft in Portugal.

Having jetted out to the continent on Sunday, the Addicks are being put through their paces on a daily basis at their training base.

And although they are feeling the pain at the moment, Forster-Caskey hopes that he and his teammates will reap the rewards of the hard work once the season kicks off.

“It’s been hard but it’s good being away with all the lads,” the midfielder said. “Obviously, we’ve got Lyle here and it’s good to get to know him on a personal level. We’re a tight-knit group and the trip has been good so far.

“We’ve been doing a lot of cycling, a lot of running and quite a bit on the grass. I think we’re all a bit rusty still but it’s good to be back.

“Everyone has come back in good shape. I think the boys have done quite a lot over summer, so everyone looks good and sharp and is looking forward to the new season.”

The Addicks kick off their pre-season campaign against Queens Park Rangers on Saturday. Supporters will be able to watch the behind-closed-doors friendly live on Valley Pass. For more information, please click here
