U23S REPORT | Bristol City 0 Charlton 1

Terrique Anderson’s late strike was enough to earn Charlton’s U23s three points against Bristol City on Friday night.

The young Addicks went close early on with a free kick from the edge of the box, which whistled past the far post.

Despite having the majority of the ball in the first half, Bristol City were unable to create many clear cut chances in what was a tense first 45 minutes.

The hosts grew into the game in the second half though, and their first real chance came through Arnold Garita, whose strike was met by a fine save from Dillon Phillips.

Charlton’s defence stood firm to Bristol’s pressure, with missed opportunities following from Garita and a looping header from Tyreeq Barkinson that called Phillips into action once again.

Jason Euell’s men responded with a late push and they took the lead when Alfie Doughty dummied for Terrique Anderson to slot home.

The youngsters continued their defiance at the back to see out the final ten minutes and end a spell of three games without a win.
