CHECKATRADE TROPHY PREVIEW | Crawley Town v Charlton

Charlton begin their Checkatrade Trophy campaign with a trip to Crawley Town on Tuesday evening (7.45pm). 

The clash against the Red Devils is the first of three Group A games and the only group match to take place away from The Valley with Fulham U23s and Portsmouth visiting SE7 in the competition over the coming months. 

TEAM NEWS

Karl Robinson has already named his side which will line up at the Checkatrade Stadium on Tuesday which will include eight academy graduates as well as summer arrival Ben Reeves, who has returned to fitness. 

The Addicks will line up as follows: Phillips; Dijksteel, Konsa, Sarr, Barnes; Crofts, Aribo, Charles-Cook, Reeves, Ahearne-Grant; Hackett-Fairchild. 

HEAD-TO-HEAD

Charlton and Crawley have only ever met competitively on one previous occasion and it came in the Checkatrade Trophy at The Valley last October, with the Red Devils coming away with a 2-0 victory. 

The Addicks last visited Crawley for a pre-season friendly in July 2012 in which Danny Green scored the only goal in a 1-0 win. 

REF WATCH

Nick Kinseley takes charge of Tuesday evening’s cup match. It will be his third match of the 2017/18 campaign. 

The referee officiated 31 games in total last term and brandished 113 yellow cards and six reds. 

He twice took charge of Charlton matches in 2016/17 – the 1-1 draw with Oldham Athletic in SE7 last September and the 1-1 home draw with Walsall in March.
