VALLEY REVIEW | Captain Johnnie Jackson stars as he discusses his Charlton future

George Jones reports

Captain Johnnie Jackson is the cover star and main interview for Sunday’s official matchday programme where he explains that he’ll be remaining in SE7 next season.

In an exclusive interview, the inspirational skipper discusses his much-talked-about future and provides more information about how his role at the club is set to change for next term.

“Since Karl Robinson has come in, he’s got me more involved,” a snippet of Jackson’s interview reads. “Karl has taken me to a few games and got me to do a few scouting reports and things like that so, even when I wasn’t in the side, I was still having certain bits of input.

“It wasn’t so much coaching on the training pitch, but [he was] picking my brains about how I saw previous games, team selection and my general opinion, really.”

As well as addressing his immediate future, Jackson reflects on the season as a whole and also lays down one of his long-term ambitions which, should it come true, would see him patrol The Valley’s home dugout on a fortnightly basis.

Elsewhere, Manager Karl Robinson and Academy boss Steve Avory pen their final columns of the season, while there is, as always, the latest from our U23s, U18s and women’s teams.

An update is provided on the club’s training ground redevelopment and the Community Trust reveal which Addicks player has been named as their Community Champion of the Year.

Visitors Swindon Town are profiled and, in the history section, there is a final look back at our historic FA Cup-winning campaign of 1946/47.

Legendary Manager Jimmy Seed again has his say as he assesses our Final victory against Burnley and there is also a full round-up of how the media reported on the Wembley Stadium-hosted match.

Valley Review will be available to purchase from sellers inside and outside the stadium on Sunday afternoon. Look out for sellers, dressed in bright green, in Ransom Walk, outside the Valley Superstore, in Harvey Gardens, and inside the West Lower and North Lower stands.

Programmes will also be available from inside the Superstore and from selected kiosks inside the ground, as well as behind the bar in Bartram’s and Crossbars.

Meanwhile, the club's 2016/17 Handbook is also still available to purchase for £5 from the Superstore, as well as the Ticket Office.
