Charlton Athletic and Charlton Athletic Community Trust (CACT) are pleased to announce the extension of their long-standing partnership with the University of Greenwich, further strengthening a relationship that continues to create opportunities across education, community engagement and sport.
The partnership between the club, CACT and the university has now spanned more than a decade, underpinned by a shared commitment to developing young people and delivering positive impact across south-east London and Kent.
As part of the renewed agreement, the University of Greenwich will expand its presence across Charlton's player pathway and community programmes, featuring on the kits of the club's academy and Trust’s Post-16 teams as well as CACT's Upbeats and Charlton Invicta squads.
The partnership continues to deliver valuable opportunities for University of Greenwich students, including industry placements, volunteering, live project work and community-based learning experiences that enhance employability and help students build professional networks.
Alongside these opportunities, the organisations will collaborate on research projects and continue to work together on social value initiatives, including the validation of community impact delivered through CACT's programmes.
The University of Greenwich's support of CACT's work remains a key part of the collaboration, helping to drive positive outcomes across education, health, inclusion and community development.
LASE University Group Vice-Chancellor and CEO Jane Harrington said: "Our partnership with Charlton Athletic and Charlton Athletic Community Trust demonstrates the power of collaboration in creating opportunities that extend far beyond the classroom.
"Through this renewed commitment, we will continue to connect our students with real-world experiences, support impactful research and contribute to initiatives that strengthen communities across south-east London and Kent. We are proud to be working alongside organisations that share our ambition to help people realise their potential and create lasting social impact."
Charlton’s Commercial Manager Ella Ellis added: "We are proud to continue our partnership with the University of Greenwich, who have been a valued supporter of both the club and CACT for many years. Together, we are committed to creating opportunities for young people, supporting innovation and making a positive impact across our community.
"Their support of our academy is particularly significant as part of building a more sustainable future for the club. Charlton has a proud track record of developing players who have represented England and, once again this season, are making important contributions to our men's first team. We are excited to build on this strong relationship in the years ahead."
CACT Director David James said: "CACT is proud of the long-standing partnership with the University of Greenwich. This has enabled us to create meaningful opportunities for local people through initiatives such as the Make It Make Sense and post-16 programmes that help young people build confidence, develop new skills, gain qualifications and broaden their aspirations. By working together, we have been able to deliver a lasting impact for communities over the years and look forward to working with the university going forward."
The renewed partnership reflects the shared belief of Charlton, CACT and the University of Greenwich that education, sport and community engagement can work hand in hand to inspire, develop and support future generations.
