Charlton U18s 2 Millwall U18s 0
Charlton’s U18s ran out 2-0 victors over Millwall U18s in the PDL on Saturday, thanks to goals from Kayode Peterkin and Zaion Christian.
Kayode Peterkin opened the scoring for the young Addicks on 18 minutes after pouncing on a mistake by Edward Payton. The Millwall midfielder played a wayward pass back to Justin Ndikum in goal, which was intercepted well by Peterkin, who made no mistake from close range to put Charlton a goal to the good.
The home side an excellent chance to double their lead on 26 minutes. Cameron Reid sent a great cross into the area, that was met well by Ethan Jeche but saw his effort clip just over the post.
Mikhail Simons called Ndikum into action a few minutes later. A free kick was sent into the box from the left-hand side, which Simons got his head to, forcing the Millwall goalkeeper to make a sharp stop from close range.
The young Addicks finished the first half strongly and went into half-time with the advantage.
The visitors came out of the blocks at the start of the second half, as they searched for an equaliser.
Jason Pearce’s side sustained the pressure from the Lions and got their reward with a goal just before the 90. Zaion Christian was fed the ball on the edge of the box, that he finished perfectly into the bottom corner to seal a 2-0 win for Charlton.
The U18s are back in action on Saturday, October 31st when they are on the road, facing Bristol City’s U18s (12pm GMT).
