Remembrance activity set for Sheffield United fixture

-

Charlton Athletic’s annual remembrance ceremony will take place ahead of Saturday's Sky Bet Championship fixture with Sheffield United at The Valley (3pm GMT).

Charlton players will be wearing poppies on their shirts, and supporters can pick up their poppies, pin badges and wristbands from the Valley Superstore.

Ahead of the game, members of the Armed Forces will lead the teams out of the tunnel and wreaths will be given to the referee and each captain, who will then hand them to the members of the Armed Forces to be laid at the side of the pitch.

The Last Post will then be played around The Valley via a special video recording which was filmed at the stadium as part of a collaboration with Armed Forces Addicks, due to the unavailability of the club's regular bugle players on the day of the game.

Following The Last Post, there will then be a period of silence to honour all of those who have given their lives in service to their country.
