Pierre Bolangi legacy match set for August 27th

The club’s U15s will take on a select XI in the Pierre Bolangi Legacy Match in memory of the former player who tragically passed away in August 2000.

Pierre, a promising 17-year-old left-back, was part of the U18s' pre-season training camp in Aldershot when he got into difficulty and drowned during an army training exercise.

The game has been organised in conjunction with 3P3 The Legacy, a community interest company established by Pierre's family and friends, to honour his life and values.

The fixture will take place at the club’s Sparrows Lane training ground on Thursday, August 27th with a 6pm kick-off, and will see the young Addicks take on a side compiled of talented young players who qualify as U15s for the 2026/27 season.

Academy star Ed Thomas picked up the Pierre Bolangi award last season, which was awarded to him ahead of the U18s Professional Development League play-off semi-final at The Valley. The annual accolade, which was presented by Pierre's family and friends, is given to an U18s player who has demonstrated Pierre’s characteristics of resilience, leadership, optimism and compassion.
