Charlton Athletic are delighted to announce the signing of Otto Tiitinen on a season-long loan from Veikkausliiga side Ilves, with an option to make the move permanent.
The 18-year-old midfielder, who has represented Finland at youth level, will join up with Chris Lock’s U21s side.
Tiitinen signed his first professional contract with Ilves in January 2025 and made his league debut three months later at the age of 16, scoring the winning goal in a 3-2 win over HJK Helsinki.
He has also gained a taste of European competition, representing Ilves four times in the Europa League and Conference League.
The Finn was named among The Guardian’s ‘Next Generation 2025’, a list of 60 of the best young talents in world football.
Head of Emerging Talent Alistair Clarke said: “Otto is a player our recruitment team have followed extensively for more than a year, initially being highlighted through video analysis within our global scouting, before progressing to live viewings. Throughout that process, he has consistently demonstrated exceptional technical ability, while also possessing the physical potential to develop and adapt to the demands of English football.”
