Charlton Athletic are delighted to announce the arrival of Oliver Skipp on a season-long loan from Leicester City.
The midfielder becomes the Addicks' 11th and final signing of the summer transfer window following the arrivals of Ivan Mesík, Billy Koumetio, Karlan Grant, Danny McNamara, Millenic Alli, Nathaniel Chalobah, Timothy Ouma, Arthur Okonkwo, Tyler Bindon and Junior Nkeng.
Speaking of his latest arrival, Nathan Jones commented: "We’re delighted to add Oliver to the squad. Skippy is someone that I’ve known for a long, long time. He’s got top-end Championship experience and Premier League experience.
"As soon as I spoke to him, he had a real desire to play for our club and be part of our project. He’s a player with wonderful experience, with wonderful quality. He’s a real marquee signing for us. It’s the culmination of a long, difficult and testing window, but one we’ve come through with a considerably improved squad. We have a really competitive Championship squad and I’m excited when we get everyone back, with what we can achieve."
Meanwhile, Managing Director James Rodwell added: "Oliver has made 180 appearances across the Premier League and Championship, bringing the quality and experience that have been central to our summer recruitment strategy as we continue to evolve as a club."
Skipp joined Tottenham Hotspur at the age of five and progressed through the ranks of their academy before going on to make 106 appearances for the club in all competitions across five seasons.
While at Spurs, he embarked on a successful season-long loan with Norwich City in 2020/21, playing all but one of the Canaries' league fixtures as he helped them to the Championship title. Skipp's impressive performances earned him a place in the 2021 PFA Championship Team of the Year.
A move to Leicester came in the summer of 2024 and he has since made 68 appearances for the Foxes, including 24 in the Premier League.
An England youth international, he has represented his country at U16, U17 and U18 level, as well as earning 24 caps for the U21s, winning the the UEFA European U21 Championships in 2023.
