Charlton Athletic are delighted to announce the loan signing of forward Lorena Azzaro from Première Ligue club Paris FC.

"I’m absolutely delighted to be joining Charlton. I can’t wait to meet the staff, my new teammates, and the fans, and to experience the club’s atmosphere—and, of course, the city of London. I’m really looking forward to this adventure getting started."

Azzaro began her footballing career at FC Toulouse before joining the Olympique Lyonnais academy in 2015. She made her first team debut for Lyon in the 2018/19 season, before spells at Fleury 91, Lille, Strasbourg and then Paris FC.

Azzaro joins Charlton on a season-long loan, and said she joined the club because she's 'competitive' and 'loves a challenge'.

"I’m a competitive person, and I love a challenge. Charlton represents exactly that for me. It’s a club with a rich history and an ambitious project.

"From my very first conversations with the staff, I could feel their confidence in me. I’ve come here to help the team achieve its goals and to give my absolute best.

"I can’t wait to meet the fans, step out onto the pitch at The Valley, and play my first matches in Charlton colours.

"Playing in the Barclays Women’s Super League—which I consider one of the best leagues in the world—is a huge source of motivation. I really can’t wait for the season to start."

Azzaro has represented France at youth level, being part of the under-19 team which won the 2019 UEFA Women's Under-19 Championship.

Now, she brings her talents to SE7 and has one last message for the fans:

"I’m really looking forward to meeting you and playing in front of you. I’ll always give my all on the pitch to represent this club in the best possible way.

"I hope we’ll share some wonderful moments together this season. Come On You Addicks!"
