Charlton Athletic Women are delighted to announce the signing of defender Leighanne Robe on a one-year contract.
Upon signing, Robe said: "I’m really grateful for the opportunity and I’m happy to be part of the team"
Robe has years of experience in the professional women's game, having played in both the BWSL and BWSL2 with Watford, Milwall and Liverpool, before going abroad to play for Al-Ittihad in Saudi Arabia, along with Cruz Azul and Pumas UNAM in Mexico.
Now back in England, Robe is looking forward to playing in a league which she said is special because of its 'intensity' and breadth of 'talent', adding that "the opportunity to challenge yourself against the best and the different talent that’s coming in every season from all over the world is amazing to be a part of."
During her time in England, Robe played with both Ellie Mason and Carla Humphrey. On seeing some familiar faces in the team, Robe said:
"People that you connect with in different seasons and different chapters of your life, it’s always nice to reunite and share the journey again."
Robe will wear the number 30 for the Addicks this season, and she is excited to get started.
"I'm happy to be a part of the team, part of the club, and we’ll do our best to fight for you and perform well this season."
See Robe and all the other new signings in action this Sunday when Liverpool come to The Valley. It is set to be a record crowd, so get your tickets for the season opener now.
