Koumetio: "I am very happy to be back"

Billy Koumetio was delighted to return to action for the Addicks on Saturday afternoon, as Charlton played out a 1-1 draw with Bristol City.

The defender made his first start since suffering an injury against Tottenham Hotspur in August, marking his return to the starting line-up.

"I am very happy to be back," he said.

"The last few weeks have been long to be honest. I obviously got injured during the Spurs game, and it wasn’t an easy one, but the staff really helped me to get back as soon as possible. I had to do a lot of work to get back but I am very happy."

The Addicks were forced to share the spoils in SE7 after Scott Twine penalty cancelled out Karlan Grant's opener.

"I am happy we got a point today, obviously we wanted three points and we wanted to play a bit better. But I am very happy to be back," Koumetio continued.

"I think it was a tight game, we had a few chances and they had a few as well. We had a big chance at the end. It was good, the first quarter of the game, we scored first. Hopefully in the next game, we will eliminate a few mistakes. Every game we train to get better, now we move onto the next one."

"Any kind of goal is frustrating to concede, it’s a penalty. Hopefully, next time we will be better, apart from the penalty I thought things were good."

"We improved on a lot of things, and there were other things we could have improved on. Apart from the penalty, I think we did a good job."

Nathan Jones' men return to action on Tuesday evening, as they travel to Turf Moor to face Burnley in the Sky Bet Championship.

"Hopefully, in the next home game, we can get a win, I know the fans are waiting for that. We are working on it, 100%," the defender said.

"We need to react as quick as possible, in the break some of the boys have recovered and trained. On Monday we will train, that is how it is in the Championship, you play all of the time, you have to rest well because the games just come one after the other. Some of the lads that went on international have played a lot of minutes, some played, some didn’t, but we all have to be ready, we play every three days and we need everyone.”
